I am helping organize a theatre mask workshop, and our notes use the word oval rather loosely. We seem to be mixing a description of facial proportions with a description of the mask itself. It would help to settle the wording before everyone arrives with a different interpretation. I am considering face shape measurements as a starting point for that discussion. We need a shared description of the outline, while keeping the actual fitting decisions separate. We have started with notes about overall proportions, cheekbone width, and the lower outline. The briefing should make it obvious when we are naming an outline and when we are checking dimensions. There will be time to try paper versions, and I would like the terminology to support that process. What wording would keep the shape discussion clear for people attending their first workshop? |
